Skipping Stones

One splash, two splash, three splash, four; sunk.

The foaming white waves roll into the shore, washing over the worn down rocks and smoothing out the rumpled sand that had been stepped on by countless souls of feet.

The water chills the feet, sending shivers up the spine; then the waves are released from their magnetic pull for just a moment, revealing a smooth black stone whose flatness of shape gives off a slight sparkle in the darkness.

Perfect.

And one quick flick off the wrist sends it flying over the rising tide.

One splash, two splash, three splash, four; sunk.
I was thinking of a time that me and my cousin were skipping stones in the ocean a couple of summers ago. It was fun, even though I'm not that good at it. :D

Wonderful piece. Its something so small and simple but you've made it something beautiful. I love the first and last line =)
